The rainforest is made of many different kinds of plants. It includes everything from tall trees to little flowers. The big trees protect the rainforest animals from bad weather. The protective layer formed by the tall trees is called the canopy.

Animals that live in the rainforest are often brightly colored. One such animal is the parrot. Humans are destroying many rainforests. When humans destroy rainforests they are destroying these animals' habitats. A habitat is where an animal lives.
